At Statham Academy Prep, we specialize in the development of youth basketball players from the ground up. Our staff has a vast knowledge of the game in terms of skill and athletic development alongside the understanding of how it fits into the X’s and O’s at the highest level of the game. Our staff has the “eye” to quickly analyze a player and see their abilities and deficiencies so we can accentuate what players are great at naturally while also addressing holes in their skill set.
Five days per week, student-athletes will work with our training staff in a variety of settings such as in the weight room, on the track and/or in the pool, where they will have detailed workouts to address their specific needs as athletes. Our philosophy is that through the education and training of biomechanics, athletic performance increases and risk of injury is drastically reduced. Athletes will also be educated on how to take care of their bodies with daily foam roll and stretch sessions. The track and pool will be utilized for endurance and sprint training sessions. The pool will also be utilized for plyometrics as the water acts as resistance while also reducing compression at the joints when landing.
Five days per week, players will be put through individual workouts in small group settings in order to expand their skill sets. Players will be put through drills of all kinds, many of which will be contextual to specific moments they will see in game. Our staff understands the nuance of the game at a professional level and our reputation for development speaks for itself.
All in all, we have created this environment for players looking to create an advantage for themselves to walk into high school more than prepared and ready to excel. The landscape of high school basketball has changed tremendously over the last few years. This is the perfect way to not only create the habits needed, but educate & develop players in order for them to navigate all that comes with being a high-level student athlete.
